Kallio well prepared for Assen GP

After a season of many hardships, Moto2-rider Mika Kallio is now ready for the Assen GP and enters the race weekend with good spirits after a successful test in Aragon. The new but faulty front fork, which was delivered to Barcelona GP, has now been replaced with a functioning one and Kallio enjoyed the benefits brought by the upgrade already during the tests last week.

-We tested the new front fork in Aragon after the previous race, worked with the rear shock and also experimented with the length of the swing arm. All these changes combined had a clear influence on the bike’s behaviour and due to an improved front grip, the bike felt better than ever during this season, a relieved Kallio commented.

Kallio’s performance during this season has kept him within the top ten riders in the world championship points, but he has suffered quite a few setbacks as well. The rider has a positive outlook towards the upcoming Assen GP and is looking forward to improved results during the weekend.

-I eagerly wait for the upcoming free practices, because I want to try out the settings we found in Aragon and see how they work here. As for the race, this is the best feeling I have had all season in terms of trust and touch. Let’s hope it stays that way, Kallio continued.

The weather in Assen, Netherlands, has a reputation of changing quickly and last year a big hailstorm took place just before the Moto 2 race start. Kallio has anyhow fond memories of the track and it’s conditions.

-I am happy to ride here, last year I made it to the podium and the results have not been that bad before either. I believe Assen is among the top tracks for me when looking at the statistics of past years. At the moment the weather is quite itself, rapid shifts come and go and nobody knows exactly whether and when it will rain. I don’t mind rain, though, but the hailstorm of last year was a bit much to handle. Several riders crashed during the sighting lap, luckily not me. I am confident that this weekend will turn out for the better, at least my feeling is such, Kallio finished.
